Review: ... the recipes, stories from those talking food under challenging situations and historical facts are interesting.

In full disclosure I got my copy from NetGalley, but like the bits of information on target. It underscores how much we take food for granted today, as well as the advances in food safety and agriculture.

I particularly liked the section on victory gardens and the measures they took to insure the soldiers were taken care of. It seems such a difference from today, when rationing would be met with much uproar. The recipes with inexpensive ingredients, cooked under challenging circumstances, made for interesting reading and discussion here on Thanksgiving.
