Terry Turchie and Dr. Kathleen Puckett give the reader a first-hand look inside the workings of the FBI, its workings with other agencies, and how the political forces around them have compromised the integrity of the agencies, particularly that of the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Citing instances of political interference for the sake of political advantage at the expense of national security, one is able to understand how such examples of ineptitiude attributed to the FBI could happen. Turchie, after an outstanding career with the FBI, is now retired from the Agency and is affiliated with the University of California at Livermore National Laboratory. Dr. Puckett, after 23 years with the FBI, is now retired as well. She is also affiliated with the University of California at San Francisco. Homeland Insecurity will be in bookstores in September, 2008.
